The Plant Pathology Laboratory began activities in December 2003.  Initially, identification of pathogens in agricultural crops was the main objective of the lab. More recently, our research has focused on studies on population diversity of Fungi and Oomycetes that cause disease in fruit crops, nursery ornamental plants. Also, there is a strong interest in the lab to study pathogens present in plants located in native ecosystems bordering agricultural crops. Most of the studies are carried out on agricultural and natural environments, located in the central western region of Mexico. This area covers the states of Colima, Jalisco and Michoacan.
